First and foremost, My sincere apologies for my unannounced absence from here.
Life has been a bit too filled with activities of late that i forgo my rights to surf or blog when i reach home.
I went for my first reservist as part of my national service obligation(note: OBLIGATION)
To be frank, i was kinda anxious to be seeing my old 'cheong-sua' friends after 4 years.
That was the easy part.
Like bollocks to my face, i never had such a lousy life during my two weeks stint, not even when i was an active NSF.
Perhaps it's the physical readiness of my body, or even the mentality. What the heck, all of us have jobs, making money and the rest students. I still ponder the decision to put us through such torment when you see innocent lives being endangered, what if they broke a bone, neck or something else.
It is not like i am against the idea of national service, but there is just a thin fine line between commitment and obligations.
So what if you break a bone, they will probably pay for your medical fees, is that sufficient? How about the potential couple of thousands that you might make, will they be liable to pay for such compensations?
Like those in the final year of their studies, concentrating on their FYP. I'm sure their project mean more to them than anything but still their request for deferment was rejected and they had to come back to serve. So, if they fail their FYP, are they liable to help pay for the additional semester?
I stress once again, i'm not against the idea of national service.
On the other hand, some of my 'buddies' shed some light, there were a couple of them who took the 10 days recall as a break, from their hectic work life or anything.
Holiday with a sweat. they rather be out in the field than be working. Wait, doesn't it mean it is time for them to seek other jobs than?
It's Xmas Eve, i am still not in the joyous mood. It's a season of happiness but all i felt as emptiness.
Another year is coming to an end. Another one to work ahead of. I have had so much that happened to me during the year of 2007, be it good or bad.
To list them all would take an enormous amount of effort which i am unwilling to contribute at this point in time.
Perhaps in my next post i guess.
Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year All.
